Walk 10 (day 1) 30th September 2012 - Steart Point (Somerset) to Williton (Somerset)

Our first two day walk. We drove to Williton and parked at Fairfield House Bed and Breakfast - our accommodation for the evening. We then caught a taxi from Williton to Steart Point our starting point.

Julie all ready for the off!

We walked as far as we could to the end of Steart Point from which we had sweeping views over Bridgewater Bay.

We climbed to the top of this hide at Steart Point from which we observed a variety of wading birds.

Mid-morning snack and a quick text!

Unfortunately, when we had passed the power station, we discovered our path was closed, due to works at the station. There were two alternatives, use the diversion which would add miles to our walk, or walk the shore line, whilst keeping a keen eye on the incoming tide!

We began a hasty walk up the pebbled beach, keeping watch on the waves!

On route we discovered some amazing formations - natural pavements.

Thankfully we survived the incoming tide and climbed a low cliff, which afforded magnificent up and down the coastline.

Through Lilstock and a Royal Navy Aircraft Range. Luckily no target practice on the day!

Inland stunning views of the Quantock Hills.
The stunning coastline of the Bristol Channel.
The emblem of the Somerset Coast Path on which we were walking.
Looking down the Channel across undulating fields.

From this point we continued our walk inland via West Quantoxhead, High Bridge to our destination at Williton. No further photographs as light was failing fast and the last section of our walk was completed in darkness - thank goodness we had torches! We enjoyed a lovely curry at The Bengal Spice Restaurant in Williton and then a wonderful nights sleep at Fairfield House!
